Clean Air and Renewable Energy

The Clean Air and Renewable Energy Committee is a group of volunteers of all experience levels who care about achieving better air quality, addressing global warming, and building a clean, renewable energy future for all people.
- Curbing the "Midwest Coal Rush" — for example, stopping the proposed expansion of the enormous Big Stone II power plant
- Advocating for policies that increase the supply of clean, renewable energy; encourage energy savings through conservation and efficiency; and create family supporting "green" clean energy jobs.
- Encouraging action on global warming through individual energy conservation, as well as citywide efforts for energy efficiency.
- Supporting local policies to make our communities "Cool Cities!"
We do this through many different activities. A few of them are:
- Collecting petitions and letters to decision-makers
- Organizing outreach and educational events and forums
- Engaging the public through attending hearings and other public meetings with decision-makers
- Working with the media to bring visibility to our issues
